Our Story

A Place Built on Welcome

Owned and operated by Don and Kelly, The Union Tavern was created with one simple belief: everyone deserves a place where they feel comfortable being exactly who they are. We are committed to fostering a welcoming, respectful environment for all — one rooted in kindness, community, and care.

Welcome to The Union Tavern

The Union Tavern is a neighborhood gathering place — the kind that feels familiar the moment you walk through the door.

Rooted in history and built for connection, we’re here for good food, thoughtful drinks, and the simple joy of being together. Whether you’re meeting friends, settling in at the bar, or stopping by on your own, you’ll find a space that’s warm, welcoming, and unpretentious.

You belong here. There’s a seat waiting for you.

More Than a Tavern

Housed in a 1850s brick building with a story all its own, The Union Tavern blends old-world character with modern hospitality. From comforting, American tavern fare to carefully curated drinks — including a robust selection of free-spirited (non-alcoholic) options — everything we do is meant to invite you to stay awhile.

Upstairs, tucked away behind the wooden doors, you’ll find The Bradstreet, our intimate speakeasy space. It’s home to monthly events, storytelling nights, and small-group experiences — including our popular Friday night tastings that highlight one special bottle, a shared table, and good conversation.

Experiences Worth Sharing

We love creating moments that bring people together. Throughout the year, we host hands-on classes, tastings, history talks, and cozy, story-driven events that celebrate food, drink, and connection — not trends.

And when it comes to life’s milestones, The Union Tavern is a place people trust with their most cherished gatherings. From birthdays and anniversaries to showers, celebrations of life, team events, and intimate receptions, our spaces are designed to feel personal, relaxed, and meaningful. We’ve hosted everything from small, candlelit dinners to full-building celebrations — and we’d be honored to host yours.

The Spirits

The Union Tavern is known for more than its history — it’s also known for its spirits. Over the years, guests and staff alike have shared stories of unexplained moments and familiar presences that suggest this building never truly empties. We like to think the past simply enjoys keeping us company.
